Hand-written numbers and other abbreviations can often be found on labor cards. Some of these were not added until after the war. F-9-460, for example, refers to the Inventory Card File “War Time” Documents (Collection 0.2), which was created by staff at the International Tracing Service (ITS), the predecessor institution of the Arolsen Archives. Here it is noted that the ITS received this labor card from the US administration in Berlin-Tempelhof in 1949. Some of the abbreviations can only be deciphered by comparing them with other personal documents that are held in the Arolsen Archives.
