Emigrants were only expected to stay in a camp in the Bremen Emigrant Staging Area for a short period so that their departure could take place without delay. Comparing the date of arrival with the departure stamp on the back of the card reveals that Adelheid Meyer, for example, had arrived on June 6, 1947, and set off by ship seven days later.
The date of arrival in field (2) is always followed by a combination of letters, such as Ms, E or GR. If you know what these letters stand for, we would like to include this information in the e-Guide. Please write to us at eguide@arolsen-archives.org.
