Employees of the Bremen Emigrant Staging Area noted the DP camp in which the emigrant had previously lived. This could be important if any questions arose or a DP’s departure was postponed because of illness, for example. The term “assembly center” noted on the card was the official way of referring to a DP camp. For emigrants who were not DPs, the location given in this field was presumably the person’s previous place of residence and not a DP camp.
