The most common abbreviations for religions are r.los for religionslos (“no religion”), rk for römisch-katholisch (“Roman Catholic”), ev or ev.ref for evangelisch (“Protestant”) and isr, mos or jud for Jewish. The prisoner’s marital status could be indicated with an l for ledig (“single”), gesch for geschieden (“divorced”), verw for verwitwet (“widowed”) or v for verheiratet (“married”). The number of children was also noted. If a newcomer had no children, a line would be drawn here.
