Some DP 3 cards show that a DP emigrated, meaning that they were resettled in a different country. However, the date given on the DP 3 card is usually not the day on which the DP boarded a ship or plane. The date might be the day on which they were taken to a resettlement center or a staging camp, which were transient camps where all DPs resided prior to emigration. But it can also be the day on which the DP was subsequently crossed off the camp administration list. To find out the exact date of departure, it can be worth looking at the ship and flight lists that were sent to the ITS by all major departure centers and that can now be viewed in the online archive of the Arolsen Archives.
