In the DP camps, the authorities also searched for people who had collaborated or cooperated with the Nazis and were now trying to conceal their nationality. If evidence of this was found, the individual would be removed from the DP camp. If there was only a suspicion, the Allied Liaison Officer who checked the nationality of the DPs would write an “S” for “suspects” in the upper right corner of the DP 2 card. The DP would not know anything about this, but the responsible officials in the reception centers of the DP’s home country would be aware that they should continue monitoring the person.
