There was space under “Remarks” to write additional information. For example, the registrar was supposed to make a note if a DP’s nationality, last permanent residence and desired destination did not correspond or if the registrar was not certain of the DP’s nationality.
If a DP was registered with their family, the family members are often listed here by name, relationship and registration number. However, sometimes only the last numbers that differed from the DP’s own registration number are noted here. The registrars could also write other information in this field, such as the DP’s path of persecution, former prisoner numbers, accommodation inside the DP camp or emigration details. If a DP died, this was also noted in this area together with the property of the deceased. A note was also made regarding what was done with this property and where it was stored or sent.
