To prevent the spread of vermin and diseases in the camps, all DPs and everything they carried with them were disinfected. There were multiple methods for doing so, which were noted on the cards, including powdered insecticides such as dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (D.D.T/DDT) and A.L.63 M.K.3, which were widely used at the time, processes that involved heat (HEAT), and other methods (OTHER).
