Not all new arrivals could be immunized in the DP camps. Since vaccines were in short supply, priority was given to anyone dealing with newly arrived DPs as registrars, doctors or nurses, and to DPs who were returning to countries affected by epidemics. DPs in the camps were immunized against epidemic typhus (T-Epid), diphtheria (D), typhoid and paratyphoid A and B (TT-Tab) and smallpox (S). If the camp doctors provided other immunizations, this was to be noted in the field marked O (for “others”).
