One of the biggest differences between the various CM/1 forms can be found in this area. On this form, IRO officials left a lot of space for further remarks by the eligibility officers. The officers wrote down everything they had noticed and thought was important. The CM/1 applications in the British and French occupation zones, and the forms used in Italy, by contrast, asked more detailed questions, such as: What was preventing the applicants from returning home? What plans did the applicants have? Did they want to emigrate, and if so, where? The answers are often very personal and emotional.
