Liberated prisoners of war (PWX) in the British zone, like the DPs, were actually supposed to be repatriated (returned to their countries of origin). But since some of them refused to return, they were cared for in PWX camps and given an identity card, also like the DPs. However, it is not known exactly how the identity cards for former POWs were issued. If you have any information about this, please send an email to eguide@arolsen-archives.org.
