Some documents in the Arolsen Archives show the prisoner’s precise course of treatment. In the prisoner clinic, the prisoner’s temperature (T in the left-hand column) and their pulse rate (P) were noted on the medical treatment forms for each day of treatment (entered on the first line). Therapies and treatments were plotted on a grid so that their direct effect on the prisoner’s pulse and temperature could be tracked. The diagnosis – erysipelas (a skin infection) in the case of Adolf Burow – is noted on the cards, as are the pre-stamped results of urine and blood tests.
