Shortly after the war, the ITS tried to find Hollerith cards for concentration camp prisoners in order to determine the prisoners’ fates. This letter from November 1948 suggests that the card file might have been located in Torgau. The Allies were aware of the importance of the file cards. Even in November 1946 during the Nuremberg Trials, leading officials from the SS Chief Economic and Administration Office such as Oswald Pohl and Karl Sommer were interrogated about the Hollerith cards and how they were used.
