As this ITS inquiry card and the associated letters show, the Central Committee was involved in the search for missing relatives. For example, in 1948 the Central Committee contacted the ITS to ask about Leo Haber, who had been deported in September 1942 via the Drancy assembly and transit camp. The letter that Leo Haber’s sister sent to the Central Committee is also preserved in the Arolsen Archives. The Polish Red Cross reported that Haber had been deported to Auschwitz.
