The Asset Utilization Office (Vermögensverwertungsstelle) created a file for all Jews deported from Berlin. Among other things, this file included an 8-page asset declaration form that the deportees themselves had to use to record the assets they owned. The form asked for the precise number of chairs, wastepaper baskets, dictionaries, bathmats and preserved foods. The file for Gertrud Kleinschmidt also holds letters from the reparation authorities in Berlin from the 1960s.
